Ric Underhile, Ph.D., CHES

Senior Consultant

Ric Underhile, Ph.D., a nationally certified and state licensed professional counselor and health education specialist, is Senior Consultant, Organizational Development for Keeling & Associates, LLC (K&A). Dr. Underhile leads K&A's work in strategic alignment, and collaborates in projects that focus on assessing and improving learning. He combines a broad, systems-level view with a textured understanding of how people work well together to help strengthen processes and outcomes in higher education. His experience in higher education includes lead participation in developing assessment plans for student affairs programs, directing health promotion programs, infusing health education curricula into residence life programs and undergraduate general education curricula, and providing individual, family, and group therapy. He also has developed and taught a range of graduate and undergraduate counseling and health education courses, and he is a leader in the development of a syndemic approach to campus risk behaviors--an approach that recognizes both the linkages of alcohol consumption and its negative consequences to other health risk behaviors and their consequences and the opportunity to address risk behaviors in comprehensive ways that link student development, learning, and specific prevention practices.

Dr. Underhile earned his doctorate in health education from Southern Illinois University.
