Stafford Named Interim Vice President of Student Affairs at John Jay College

Keeling & Associates, LLC, congratulates Dr. Thomas Stafford as the Interim Vice President of Student Affairs at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. He will serve as Interim for a role previously held by Dr. Berenecea Johnson Eanes who recently was named Vice President for Student Affairs at California State University, Fullerton. As Vice President, Dr. Stafford will provide leadership to departments within the Division of Student Affairs including student life, community outreach and service learning, counseling, the Urban Male Initiative and career services. 

Dr. Stafford comes to the Vice Presidency of John Jay with extensive senior leadership experience in student affairs. This year, he retired from an impressive career with North Carolina State University – an institution in which he has served in research and administrative positions since 1971 including 29 years as Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.

Throughout his tenure as Vice Chancellor at NC State, Dr. Stafford was considered a strong advocate for students who placed their needs at the heart of the Division of Student Affairs. His record includes three years of service on the committee to advise the United States Secretary of Defense on issues related to women in the armed forces.

Dr. Stafford is the recipient of awards and accolades including the 1999 Women’s Equity Award from the North Carolina State Council on the Status of Women. He has been recognized by NC State through the establishment of the Thomas H. Stafford Jr. Spirit Bell Award and the naming of newly created NC State green space in his honor. 

Dr. Stafford received his bachelor’s degree from Davidson College, his master’s degree from NC State, and his PhD from Florida State University.
